Fu Baorong - China
Date of Birth:  3 June 1978 (30)
Position: Forward

Creating as many goals as she scores, Fu Baorong is the star of the China front line and is feared by defenders the world over. Along with compatriot Ma Yibo, Fu Baorong is one of the cornerstones on which China has built much of its success.

China has become a force to be reckoned with over the last seven years, challenging for top honours in almost every competition that they enter. Fu was a key member of the side that claimed the 2002 Champions Trophy, and has also claimed silver medals from Champions Trophy tournaments in 2003 and 2006.

It was at the 2006 event in Amstelveen where Fu was at her imperious best, winning the Player of the Tournament award ahead of the likes of Natascha Keller and Luciana Aymar. Her performances in that tournament were nothing short of staggering, as the powerful and unpredictable forward proved herself to be almost unstoppable.

At the end of 2006 she was named in both the FIH World Player of the Year shortlist and the FIH All Stars team, confirming her place among the finest hockey players in the world.

China finished fourth at Athens 2004, but boosted by the support of a home crowd, Fu will be desperately keen for the team to get among the medals in Beijing. If she is on form, they are more than capable of doing just that.
